Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that almost all sectors of the economy remained stagnant during Imran Khan's tenure, adding that metro bus project from Peshawar turn to airport is still incomplete after five years. According to details, in a statement released on the social networking site Twitter, he said that during the tenure of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, almost all sectors were in a state of stagnation, including the metro bus project from Peshawar turn to the airport. Incomplete after 5 years, Metro Bus has ordered early completion of the remaining work along with investigation into the delay in the project.

Shahbaz Sharif further said that feasibility report of the project has been requested for other areas of the capital, mass transit system is a way to provide dignified service to the citizens, unfortunately delay in public welfare project has increased its cost.



It may be recalled that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited the Peshawar Mor to New Islamabad Airport Metro project this morning to inspect the project, during which PML-N leaders Ahsan Iqbal, Maryam Aurangzeb and Muftah Ismail were also present. However, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif reviewed the project which has been delayed for four years. CDA Chairman Amir Ahmed Ali briefed the Prime Minister about the project, stating that initially 15 Buses are being provided.

Shahbaz Sharif lashed out at the authorities over the delay in the project and said that the project of public interest should not have been delayed. There is no justification for the delay. What is difficult? He directed that in order to find out the reasons for the delay in the project, the delay in the Metro project should be investigated and a committee should be formed.

The Prime Minister said that about Rs. 16 billion has been spent on the project so far. Let the people know that early completion of the project is necessary. There should be a station of Islamabad Metro on the motorway. Well, this is the money of the nation, take care of the people, I will not sleep myself and I will not let them sleep.
