The timing of the National Assembly session has been changed for the election of a new Prime Minister. According to details, the National Assembly has released the schedule for the election of the new Prime Minister of the country, under which the nomination papers can be submitted till 2 pm today. The scrutiny of the submitted nomination papers will be till 3 pm. The election of the new Prime Minister will be held on Monday at 2 pm, before which a meeting of the National Assembly was convened at 11 am on Monday to elect a new Leader of the House.

It is to be noted that the no-confidence motion of the opposition against Prime Minister Imran Khan was won by a majority of votes. After the resignation of National Assembly Asad Qaiser, he said that he would hand over the chairmanship of the Speaker to Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, a member of Panel of Chairman, after which Ayaz Sadiq, a member of Panel of Chairman, presided over the National Assembly session and moved against Prime Minister Imran Khan. On April 3, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri dismissed the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan as unconstitutional. Later, at the end of the National Assembly session, the United Opposition convened its session with Ayaz Sadiq in the Speaker's chair and a no-confidence motion was passed with the support of 197 members. The no-confidence motion against PM Imran Khan was to be voted on, but the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly dismissed the motion as unconstitutional, after which the PM addressed the nation and said that he had asked the President to dissolve the assembly. After Imran Khan's speech, President Arif Ali dissolved the National Assembly. On this, the Supreme Court constituted a larger bench on its own notice of non-voting on the no-confidence motion. The larger bench comprised of Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan, Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Mian Khel, Justice Muneeb Akhtar and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial restrained state officials from taking any unconstitutional action. On 07 April 2022, the Supreme Court issued a written order annulling the rolling of the Deputy Speaker.The written order consisted of 8 pages, stating that the April 3 rolling of the Deputy Speaker is declared unconstitutional, the rolling of the Deputy Speaker has no status, the rolling of the Deputy Speaker is declared null and void.

The present case is being dealt with on these issues. The dissolution of the National Assembly is also unconstitutional. The no-confidence motion is still pending. After the no-confidence motion, the National Assembly session will not be adjourned till the election of the new Prime Minister.
