Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has thanked his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi for his congratulations on his assumption of the office of Prime Minister of India. I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He further said that Pakistan wants peaceful and cooperative relations with India.

Peaceful resolution of extraordinary conflicts including Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is imperative. The whole world is aware of Pakistan's sacrifices in the war on terror. Let us ensure peace and focus on the economic and social development of our people.

Earlier, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Pakistan's newly elected Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif within minutes of his swearing in and said, "India seeks peace and stability in a region free of terrorism.

On Monday night, March 11, Modi said in a tweet, "Congratulations to Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on being elected Prime Minister of Pakistan. India wants peace and stability in a region free of terrorism, so that we can focus on our development challenges and ensure the well-being of our people. " I had received a vote of confidence from Shahbaz Sharif.

He got 174 votes in the 342-member parliament and thus power in Pakistan is now in his hands. With Shahbaz Sharif becoming Pakistan's prime minister, New Delhi's focus now is on developments in bilateral relations in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore. According to observers, it now expects bilateral diplomatic progress, but India's attitude is very cautious. Some senior government sources say a change of government in Pakistan could be a prelude to a new "diplomatic start" and could have far-reaching implications.
