Islamabad High Court rejects petition to probe US letter
An application filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking an inquiry into a US letter has been rejected. According to details, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ruled in favor of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri and other leaders in a treason case and a petition seeking an inquiry into the US letter, declaring the petition inadmissible. Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Athar Minallah conducted the hearing, where petitioner's counsel Malvi Iqbal Haider pursued his own petition. The court ruled that diplomats and classified reports should not be dragged into political controversy.
Doing so could weaken the national interest. The High Court also imposed a fine of Rs. 100,000 on the petitioner.
In his arguments, Malvi Iqbal Haider said that the former prime minister had accused the US of conspiracy, the former prime minister was bound to investigate, investigate and verify the threatening letter, the controversial letter needed to be challenged in international justice but Imran Failing to do so and violating Articles 2A, 4 of the Constitution of Pakistan, it did great damage to the unity, integrity, sovereignty and security of Pakistan while severing ties with the United States also damaged the image of Pakistan.
The lawyer requested the court to prosecute former prime minister Imran Khan, Fawad Chaudhry, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Qasim Suri under the Serious Treason Act. Initiate an inquiry against him and send the complaint to a trial court having jurisdiction under the law and under the High Treason Act etc.
Petitioner's counsel said that the court should direct the Interior Ministry to add the names of Prime Minister Imran Khan, US Embassy, Fawad Chaudhry, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Qasim Suri in ECL till the decision of the petition. Giving arguments, Iqbal Haider said that the former prime minister showed a letter to the people during a meeting, the US embassy has declared the controversial letter as fake. On which the Chief Justice said that let the state do its work, why bring political issues to the court, you have pleaded in your petition, Imran Khan was the elected Prime Minister, do not compare with Pervez Musharraf.
