Hearing on Punjab Chief Minister's request for election adjourned till Monday
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday adjourned the hearing on the petition seeking election of Punjab Chief Minister till Monday. According to details, the petition filed by PML-N leader and opposition's Chief Ministerial candidate Hamza Shahbaz was heard by Chief Justice Amir Bhatti of the Lahore High Court, where the Lahore High Court summoned the Secretary Punjab Assembly with records. The hearing on the petition regarding the election of Punjab Chief Minister has been adjourned till Monday.
It may be recalled that the Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz had filed a constitutional petition in this regard in the Lahore High Court in which the Speaker, Deputy Speaker and IG Punjab were made parties. It is vacant that elections should be held as soon as possible. Secretary Assembly and administrative officers are obeying the illegal orders of Pervez Elahi and the Punjab Assembly is being delayed without any reason.
The petition filed by the Chief Ministerial candidate of the opposition parties took the position that the session of the Assembly could not be adjourned under Article 130 of the Constitution till the election of the Chief Minister. The court should issue an order soon and make the election possible.
However, the Lahore High Court Office has objected to the petition of PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz, stating that the Speaker's orders could not be challenged in the court. Probably, the objection of Lahore High Court office was heard by Chief Justice Amir Bhatti today in which he dismissed the objection on the petition of Hamza Shahbaz and directed to file the petition for hearing and the court directed the Registrar's Office to file the petition today. Ordered to apply for hearing.
When the hearing began, the Lahore High Court summoned the Advocate General of Punjab. During the hearing for the election of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the lawyer of Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Dost Mazari presented arguments. Candidates, the Speaker cannot head this session under the Constitution, the Deputy Speaker has the power under the Constitution to run the House, when the Speaker's office is vacant, the Deputy Speaker conducts the affairs. During the hearing, lawyer Hamza Shahbaz said that we were barred from entering with barbed wire. Punjab has been running without government for 8 days. Important legal points have been raised in the petition while AG had given assurance in the Supreme Court. ۔
