The government has prepared a plan to reduce the revolving debt by increasing the electricity tariff. By June 2023, the revolving debt of the power sector will be reduced by Rs 950 billion. The Energy Committee of the Federal Cabinet has approved the revised circular debt plan.


 

ISLAMABAD: The government has formulated a plan to reduce the revolving debt by increasing electricity tariffs. The Energy Committee of the Federal Cabinet has approved the revised circular debt plan. According to the document, the target is to increase the basic electricity tariff by 63 paisa per unit in February 2022. According to the document, the annual basic tariff from July 1, 2023 is estimated to increase by 2 rupees 17 paisa per unit. Debt will be reduced by Rs 950 billion.


According to the document, the revolving debt of the power sector stood at Rs. By 2023, Rs 85 billion will be achieved, an increase of Rs 2 17 paise in basic tariff will bring Rs 207 billion annually. ۔
