The Supreme Court rejected the request to increase the number of minority seats in the National and Provincial Assemblies. According to details, the Supreme Court has said that Parliament cannot order amendment in the Constitution.
The court, while upholding the decision of the Lahore High Court, ruled that an amendment was required in the constitution to increase the number of minority seats.
Parliament should be ordered to increase the number of minority seats as the population grows. Justice Ejaz-ul-Haq remarked that the court does not have the power to order a constitutional amendment to the parliament.
