Iranian Interior Minister Meets Army Chief, Discusses Security Situation


 

Iranian Interior Minister called on Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. Regional security situation, mutual defense cooperation, border markets were discussed in the meeting. Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that both Extensive cooperation between fraternal neighbors is essential for peace and stability in the region.

According to ISPR, the Iranian Interior Minister called on Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. During the meeting, geo-strategic issues, security situation in the region and mutual defense cooperation were discussed. Pakistan-Iran border security mechanism and border markets were also discussed during the meeting. Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that greater cooperation between the two brotherly neighbors was essential for peace and stability in the region.

Earlier in the day, the Iranian Interior Minister called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad and discussed issues of mutual interest. The Prime Minister called for enhancing trade and ties between the two countries. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the fraternal relations between Pakistan and Iran. Prime Minister Imran Khan said that there is a border of peace and friendship between Pakistan and Iran and joint cooperation is important to deal with security issues.

Prime Minister Imran Khan thanked the Iranian government for supporting the Kashmir issue. The Prime Minister reiterated to the Iranian Interior Minister the visit of the Iranian President to Pakistan. Similarly, visiting Iranian Interior Minister Dr. Ahmad Wahidi on Monday called on his counterpart Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, and bilateral talks were held between the Iranian delegation led by the Interior Minister and senior officials of the Interior Ministry to discuss the regional security situation, Other important issues including possible humanitarian tragedy in Afghanistan and completion of fencing work on Pak-Iran border as soon as possible were discussed.

According to the statement, various proposals were discussed regarding prevention of illegal human immigration and drug trafficking and exchange of prisoners between the two countries and provision of facilities to visitors.
