Election Commission disqualifies Faisal Wawda Election Commission orders withdrawal of all privileges from Faisal Wawda

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan  ECP  has declared the disqualification case of Faisal Wawda in a safe manner. The disqualification case had been pending before the Election Commission for more than two years.

Faisal Wawda is accused of having dual citizenship. He is accused of not disclosing his foreign citizenship at the time of nomination papers. Faisal Wawda did not admit the allegations. The High Court had rejected his plea that the main forum for hearing the case was the Election Commission.

A petition was filed in the Election Commission in January 2020 by PPP leaders Abdul Qadir Mandokhal, Mian Asif Mehmood and Mian Faisal regarding the dual citizenship of the Federal Minister, in which it was stated that Faisal Wawda had filed nomination papers for the 2018 elections. He had concealed his US citizenship at the time of submission, so he should be disqualified.

The Election Commission has declared Faisal Wawda ineligible. The Election Commission has said that Faisal Wawda submitted false statement of affidavit to the Election Commission.
