Election Commission de-notifies Faisal Wawda as Senator
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan ECP has de-notified Faisal Wawda as a senator. The seat of Faisal Wawda has been declared vacant in the Senate. ۔ According to media reports, the Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a notification to de-notify Faisal Wawda as Senator, along with the general seat of Faisal Wawda from Sindh in the Senate has also been declared vacant. ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan ECP has declared the disqualification of Faisal Wawda in a disqualification case. Had directed the Election Commission to decide the Faisal Wawda case soon.
Faisal Wawda is accused of having dual citizenship. He is accused of not disclosing his foreign citizenship at the time of nomination papers. Faisal Wawda did not admit the allegations but he had approached the High Court against the case in the Election Commission. The High Court had rejected his plea that the main forum for hearing the case was the Election Commission. A petition was filed in which it was stated that Faisal Wawda had concealed his US citizenship while submitting his nomination papers for the 2018 elections, therefore he should be disqualified. After the Election Commission had reserved the decision of the disqualification case in December 2022, which has been announced today.
The Election Commission has declared Faisal Wawda ineligible. The Election Commission has said that Faisal Wawda submitted false affidavit to the Election Commission. The Election Commission has ordered to withdraw all privileges from Faisal Wawda.
