During the year and a half, the economic difficulties of Pakistanis increased, the middle class affected the most due to non-fulfillment of expenses, the results of the survey based on public opinion were released. The latest survey found an increase in the rate of Pakistanis complaining of under-spending due to inflation and economic hardship. According to the report, in July 2020, 59% of the people were complaining about non-fulfillment of monthly expenses, but now 72% are worried about non-fulfillment of monthly expenses.

The middle class was the most affected by the non-fulfillment of expenses, with 78% complaining of non-fulfillment of expenses.


To meet the monthly expenses, 26% of Pakistanis said to reduce expenses, 45% to find a part-time job and 28% to borrow. It may be mentioned here that according to the report released by the Bureau of Statistics last week, the inflation rate in the country has risen to 19.53 percent. Last week saw an increase of 1.35 per cent, after which the overall rate of inflation rose to 19.53 per cent, while the rate of inflation for the lowest income earners reached 21.46 per cent.

According to the report of the Bureau of Statistics, prices of 22 items increased, 6 items decreased and 23 items remained stable last week. Among the expensive items, the price of tomato has gone up from Rs 70.94 per kg to Rs 149.65 per kg, while live chicken has gone up by an average of Rs 19.33 per kg to Rs 203.39 per kg and garlic to Rs 17.80 per kg. The price of mustard oil rose by Rs 9.19 per kg.

Domestic cylinders of LPG have become more expensive by Rs. Similarly, among the cheaper items, potatoes became cheaper by Rs 2.45 per kg, onions by Rs 1.40 per kg, eggs by Rs 6.5 per dozen and sugar by 76 paise per kg.
