According to the text of the letter, 17% sales tax will increase the price of milk. If the problem of sales tax is not solved then milk can be sold at Rs. 200 per liter.
The official price of milk in Karachi is fixed at Rs. 120 per liter. Despite this, shopkeepers in the city are selling milk at Rs 140 per liter. The commissioner said that the new price of milk has been fixed in consultation with farmers, wholesalers and retailers. He clarified that the price of milk for dairy farmers would be Rs 105 and the wholesale price would be Rs 110 per liter. Violations of the official price will be prosecuted. Commissioner Iqbal Memon had also decided to review the price of milk every three months.
